Residents of Torch tower in Dubai Marina are relieved to move back into their flats after Dubai Police and civil defence authorities carried out their investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire on Friday.

Tenants Khaleej Times spoke to said people living on floors six to 28 have been asked to move in first.

Two British expats told Khaleej Times that they have checked out of the hotel where they had been provided free accommodation.

"We are moving back today," a woman resident said.

Thirty-five-year-old Omar from Lebanon, who lives on the 19th floor, is thrilled to return to the building and start "normal life".

"The temporary accommodation was very comfortable, I didn't feel the pinch," he said. "The authorities took very good care of us."

A British man, who lives on the 28th floor, also checked out from his hotel and moved back into the tower today.
