Graduation ceremony for the disabled

SHARJAH - The Rehabilitation and Employment Centre for Handicapped which is affiliated to the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) organised yesterday a graduation ceremony for 85 handicapped students who completed training in computer studies, secretarial work and other skills at its premises in Sharjah.

Around 81students with various disabilities were conferred certificates and four deaf students received diplomas from Middle East Institute for Culture and Computer (MEICC).

The event was held under the patronage of Shaikha Jamila bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairperson of Sharjah Supreme Family Council and Director General of SCHS.

Speaking on the ocassion, Rouhi Abdat, Supervisor of Education and Psychiatric section of the centre, said "Our efforts are bearing fruit and every year we witness the progress of those people with special needs who join the centre feeling afraid and hopless, but leave it strong, more independent and ready to contribute to the development process."

He added that all the staff members of SCHS made great efforts to promote the abilities and skills of the students.
