Govt cracks down on bogus hiring firms in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah - Ministry of Labour office in Ras Al Khaimah said the crackdowns had contributed effectively in slashing the number of the bogus manpower supply companies.

Government entities in Ras Al Khaimah are launching extensive crackdowns on bogus manpower supply and hiring companies in the emirate, who bring in foreign employees, issue them residence visas in exchange of money before leaving them in the lurch when setting afoot in UAE, Al Roaya Arabic daily reported on Wednesday.

The government bodies have unanimously agreed on the potential danger and threat posed by such firms, which cause the spreading of jobless workers and the damages inflicted on labour market.

The director general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Ras Al Khaimah, Brigadier Sultan Al Nuaimi as saying that the directorate, and out of its sensing the danger of such bogus agencies, had intensified its crackdowns in every nook and corner of the emirate to book these companies.

"The joint inspection teams from the ministry of labour office and the Economic Development Department are launching inspection campaigns at all time and after the official work hours to root out the menace," he said, adding legal actions will be taken against the bogus manpower supply company, and that include imposition of a Dhs 50,000 fine against whoever close his company or ceases its activity without settling the status of its respective employees."

Ministry of Labour office in Ras Al Khaimah said the crackdowns carried out in the emirate had contributed effectively in slashing the number of the bogus manpower supply companies which leave negatively dangerous effects on the security of the society, as well as causing the number of unemployed workers to go up, thus cause damage to the labor market.

The illegal practices of these companies serve as strong motive for the stranded workers to do illegal work or beg to get money for their living, the office warned. The bogus companies are referred to the public prosecution for action.
