Turki Al Dakhil, writer and host of weekly talk show “Edaat” on Al Arabiya TV in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said that there must be a balance between truth and the policies of the television company.

“No one can generalise and say that the role of media is negative because they make up stories. Truth is relative and it can change. People should concentrate on the services. If these media can serve them well, then it is more than a bargain.”

He said that what turns to be a disaster and a catastrophe is when most people mix news with opinions, or mix truth with hearsay.”

Speaking on the “Role of Visual Media Supporting Government Institutions’ Vision of Social Development”, Al Dakhil said that all should focus on ideas and thoughts, not on person and personalities. Zaven Kouyomdjian, a Lebanese TV celebrity and presenter of “Siree Wenfatahet” programme on Future TV, said that there is no absolute truth and no absolute lie. He said that the challenge these days is how to make the show attractive to the audience like the famous presenter, Oprah Winfrey.
