GMC Hospital cuts maternity ward charges

AJMAN — The GMC Hospital Ajman has reduced its charges for normal deliveries to Dh1,000 only for patients opting for general ward facilities.

GMC Hospital has upgraded many facilities and has set a target of receiving more than 1,000 outpatients a day for quality care at nominal prices. GMC Hospital has also tied up with Health Management Corporation located at Dubai Health Care City for the accreditation of the hospital to meet international standards. The hospital has a modern Women’s Health Centre with specialist doctors available round the clock, six delivery suites, four major operation theatres, neonatal care, VIP and deluxe rooms.

Munich Forum

DUBAI — The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is currently participating in the UAE-Germany Economic Partnership Forum 2006 that commenced in Munich on Tuesday.

RTA delegates for the three-day forum include Abdul Mohsen Ebrahim Younis, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance; Dr Aysha Al Busmait, Executive Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications; and Abdul Majid Al Hashmi, Public Relations Co-ordinator.

“RTA's participation in the forum comes in line with its commitment to project Dubai as a distinctive city for trade and commerce,” said Younis.

“The tourism industry has been a major contributor to the growth of UAE's economy, and there has been a constant increase in the number of German tourists to the UAE,” he added.

Lufthansa

DUBAI — Lufthansa celebrated its 30th Anniversary in the UAE at the J W Marriott Hotel on May 7 in Dubai. The ceremony was attended by clients, employees, VIP officials and business partners.

Uwe Wriedt, General Manager, UAE, and Director for the Gulf and Pakistan, said, "Today, Lufthansa is an international corporation with its roots firmly fixed in Germany. Around 60,000 of the 90,000 people employed by Lufthansa work in Germany, and 95 in the UAE.”

The first flight into the UAE was in the year 1976. The traffic figures from Abu Dhabi have also grown tremendously in the past years. Recently Lufthansa has started its flights to Bahrain as well. “The German Carrier is therefore proud to announce that it now operates to all Middle Eastern countries in the region except Iraq and Syria,” Wriedt said.

He further stated, "A high level of innovation, quality, safety and internationally recognised technical expertise are the values for which Lufthansa is today known around the world.

Lufthansa flies daily from Dubai to Frankfurt at 0230 and arrives at 0710 and daily from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt at 0010 and arrives at 0620.
