Globetrotter on peace mission

ABU DHABI — Indonesian motorcyclist Jeffery R. Polnaja, on his global “Ride For Peace”, has arrived in Abu Dhabi.

The globetrotter wants to spread the message of peace and harmony by touching the hearts and minds of people.

Polnaja’s journey started on April 23, 2006, and will last for five years, covering 100 countries in two phases.

In the first phase, he will cover 45 countries of Asia, Middle Asia, North Africa and Europe over 750 days.

In the second phase, he’ll cover America and Australia.

Polnaja has already visited Oman, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran.

The Indonesian national is a distinguished sport personality. He has won the off-road motorcycle competition in America, and has been the national champion of horse riding in his home country. He is also an expert in parachuting and gliding.

The motorcycle he is using in his mission has been specially designed for long journeys. It is equipped with hi-tech gadgets like video camera, global positioning system, compass, tent, and tools.
