GHQ awards ADSB Dh150m refits contract

ABU DHABI — The UAE General Headquarters (GHQ) has awarded Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company (ADSB) a contract for the operational refits of the UAE Navy's two 65-metre Murray Jib Class Corvettes.

The value of the contract is estimated at between Dh150 million and Dh200 million.

The ADSB has already commenced ordering the major equipment packages.

The scope of work for the operational refit comprises repairing or replacing and overhauling the ships hull; mechanical, electrical and propulsion systems as well as the replacement of several items of major equipment for the platform.

Bill Saltzer, CEO of ADSB, said the company has developed a highly capable and efficient Naval refit capability in the UAE which has been demonstrated through the successful completion of a number of major refit projects for the UAE Navy, UAE

Coast Guard and other regional customers.

Currently, the ADSB is performing the combat system upgrade on six 45-metre Fast Attack Craft and the tropicalisation and upgrade package on UAE Navy's twomine hunters — Al Hasba and Al Murjan projects.

The ADSB is also currently working on the refit of 10 boats for the Bahrain Coast Guard.
