The Indian culture is marked by two philosophies - Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, a Sanskrit phrase, which means 'The world is one family', and Athithi Devo Bhava meaning 'The guest is God'.
India has a vast healthcare system and is a popular destination for medical tourists, given the relatively low costs and high quality of its private hospitals.
Medical tourism is growing in India. Advantages of medical treatment in India include reduced costs, the availability of latest medical technologies, and a growing compliance on international quality standards.
Studying in India is an attractive offer due to low fees and high standards of education. In April 2018, India unveiled its plan to attract hundreds of thousands of foreign students to its best universities, hoping to recapture its ancient glory as a hub of scholarship and knowledge.
The government promised to waive or discount fees and to expedite visas under a programme called 'Study in India' that was marketed to 30 countries - including the UAE.
With the liberalisations of visa regime for various categories including e-Visa, foreign nationals have shown interest in visiting India for different purposes.
There are two ways to avail Indian Visa of different categories - one is normal regular visa where one has to approach the outsourcing agency BLS centre(s) in the UAE and other is e-Visa which has to be applied online and fees paid online.
For both types of visas services, foreign nationals are required to visit official website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in and fill the form online.
For regular visas, hard copy of applications with supporting documents are required to be submit to designated BLS centres across Dubai and Northern Emirates.
Whereas for availing e-Visas services, foreign nationals directly apply on the official website and visa is electronically sent to applicant from India. Consulate issues regular visas of normal categories in 3-4 working days.
Consulate General of India (CGI), Dubai, plays a leading role in issuing regular visas. However, e-Visas are issued directly from New Delhi and Indian Consulate has little role to play in that.
In 2018, CGI Dubai issued nearly 26,000 regular visas out of which over 19,000 were Tourist visas, 3,424 were Business visa and over 1,000 were Medical visas. Nearly 40 students went for higher studies to India in 2018 from UAE and 37,000 took e-Visa facility from UAE in 2018.
It is our endeavour to serve the members of Vasudhaiva Kutumba in the spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava. All are welcome to 'Incredible !ndia'.
There are several phishing sites and some persons have been duped in the past. Our official website is www.indianvisaonline.gov.in. If there is any problem in opening the website then a reference may be sent to CGI Dubai on visasec.dubai@mea.gov.in.
