According to Ranga Rajan, Marketing Manager of Emax Electronic Store at Centre Point, Bur Dubai, the German national was caught by the shop staff while he was trying to buy a Nokia phone from the store with a fake credit card. "The German man came to the shop about 9.30pm in the night. He browsed through the store for a while and selected a new model of Nokia mobile. When we swiped his credit card, the machine picked up the card," he said.

When they suspected the card could be fake, Murtaza Zaki, the store manager, called Mashreq Bank to check if the card was original or fake. “Meanwhile, we told the German to stay in the shop because the card had some problems. Our staff were watching what he was doing. Later the bank called and confirmed that the card was fake and suggested to call the Police," Rajan said.

"We informed the police and told the man that the card was fake. Police arrived in a short while and arrested him," he said, adding that the man was not holding any identification.

A source from Rafa Police station confirmed the incident and said the police had launched an investigation into the incident.
