GCC urges members to intensify fight against terrorism

ABU DHABI — Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Interior, led the UAE delegation to the 6th Consultation Meeting of the Interior Ministers of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which was held at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh later on Tuesday.

During the meeting which was chaired by the Bahraini Interior Minister, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and attended by the interior ministers of the six GCC member states, as well as the GCC Secretary-General, Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Atiyya, the ministers reviewed current regional and international security developments in the light of the terror phenomenon which the whole world is currently facing.

They reiterated the GCC’s commitment to a unified stance against this dangerous phenomenon and their condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and images, no matter whatever is its source. They renewed their call for the GCC states to intensify regional and international efforts to fight this danger by facing it squarely at all levels. They reviewed the level of security cooperation and coordination among their countries and expressed satisfaction on the measures taken by member countries.
