The ministers said RCEP aims to generate, expand and share educational planning knowledge.
At the Doha meeting, it was also decided that the 21st session of the general conference of educatin ministers of the GCC, would be held in Abu Dhabi in November 2010.

Also likely to be discussed is a proposal, pushed mainly byBahrain, to slap a five-year residency cap on expatriate workers. Although a majority of the member countries have not yet voiced their official views on the issue, sources said the summit might consider such a ban on unskilled labourers, estimated to account for 85 per cent of the more than 15 million guest workers in the Gulf.

Limit on Expats

Bahrain has repeatedly called for limiting expatriates’ stay in the GCC states on the ground that large populations of foreign workers were eroding local culture and denying employment to citizens.

Leading employers in the region have voiced their opposition to the move, saying that it will curb development.
