According to officials, the department is working on seven new projects, including tree plantation on Saada Road, developing the roads of Abu Dhabi such as Shaikh Sultan Road and the palaces road in Al Bateen area, in addition to several other roads. Work has also started on a road tree plantation project in the Western Region, they revealed.

A new garden, to be called 'Ahyaa Gardens' will be set up. The airport area will be developed and large areas will be landscaped to give the capital city a new look. The projects are being carried out in parallel with irrigation projects in various areas, they added.

Engineer Frey Hassan Al Mazroui, Director of Department of Public Gardens and Parks, said that the department had completed work on afforestation and decoration of the area surrounding the Emirate Palace. The department has planted two million seedlings of various flowers to decorate the Arabian Gulf Road and the area located between the Amiri Airport and the Musafah area, he explained.

He pointed out that work was also completed in a project to install the water pipes and electric cables in 105 water wells in Bedaa Dhafri and Al Ashosh. The Central control system, which controls the process of distributing water to the farms, has been implemented. Farms of UAE citizens in Al Mazez, Al Jarf and Al Nahda will benefit from the system, he noted.

A plantation project on Madinat Zayed Road which stretches over 50 Km has been completed.

These projects were part of a master plan to spread greenery in the emirate and curtail desertification, the official said.
