The actor, who recently got his turn with the actor in Silver Linings Playbook, which is in the running for multiple Academy Awards, is directing a short film for Niro , entitled I Went Shopping For Robert De Niro.

“I have been wanting to direct a film for the past one year. When I came back from the US after completing Silver Linings Playbook, Yamini, the writer of the short film, narrated the concept to me and I thought it is a wonderful story and I wanted to tell it. I decided to direct and produce it,” Kher said recently. Kher is a veteran in the film business and has starred among others, in such memorable films as Bride and Prejudice, Mistress of Spices and Bend It Like Beckham, he said in a statement. He had earlier directed the 2002 release Om Jai Jagadish, which , unfortunately, did not do well at the box office. Kher is, however, a popular and highly talented theatre person too who has a one-man act on his like, Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai….

I Went Shopping For Robert De Niro, will be produced under his banner Actor Prepares, which also runs a school for budding actors. The 29-minute film is about two girls who meet each other at the crossroads of their lives and shop for Niro and tracks their life on that single day.

“With this film we tell the story of millions of people who come to the city of Mumbai to fulfill their dreams...,” Kher said about the film adding that Silver Linings Playbook “reminded me of the excitement I experienced when I signed my first film ever and I Went Shopping For Robert De Niro reminded me of my first days in Mumbai”.

“Nostalgia drove me to be a part of both these stories. In one sense, going to celebrate Silver Linings Playbook at the Oscars brings this entire journey a full circle for me as being a part of the project gave birth to the short film,” Kher said.

We are looking forward to this one.

Celebrity pow-wow

THIS COULD just lead to another celebrity, very ugly cat fight, the kind that grabs headlines in the media. Amanda Bynes who has not exactly had a great last year, is making sure she will have a tumultuous 2013 — she has made sure of this by posting some nasty remarks about rapper Jay Z who she has termed ugly, on Twitter.

She probably realised she was taking on too much — Jay Z is not just any rapper. He is spouse to Beyonce and one of US President Barack Obama’s friends and you can’t get on the wrong side of someone that connected, without consequences. Besides, if you are just 26, you better learn some manners and learn to respect your elders.

The message was deleted double fast and word is out that it is actually an unverified account, so we wonder if there is some hanky-panky here.

Bynes had abandoned Twitter in 2012 after a lot of media bashing over her inconsistent behaviour and trouble including drunken driving arrest that got her car impounded, substance abuse. She later returned to the site a few months later.

If she gets bad press over the latest public fracase, we would advise her to just stay off twitter and get her life in order before announcing her status to the world.

Celebrity pets get
on twitter

THERE ARE the pets that you and me have at home, dogs and cats and sometimes birds, who lead ordinary lives like we do. And then there are the celebrity pets that get the same treatment their owners get, waited upon hands and feet and pampered like royalty.

Crooner Britney Spears’s pet dog is one such celebrity dog. We are worried she will take offence if Hannah, the pooch is called a pet dog because which pet has her own twitter handle and that too with some 40,000 followers of her own?

Spears, who is all set to sign a year’s singing contract in residence for a hotel at Las Vegas recently introduced the new acquisition on Facebook saying, “Say good morning to my new baby people,”, along with pictures of her cuddling Hannah. We can only say this is one lucky dog…
