Way back in 2004, Yaseen Hasan set up a small office at Ras Al Khor in Dubai and founded Sky Tower General Trading. "The beginning was humble," he notes. "Over the years, we got the pulse of the market and started matching the requirements of clients. We had a sense of vision and mission and slowly transformed into a 'clean and hygiene' (C&H) Centre. Today, we have branches in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Oman, India, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain."
According to Hasan, Sky Tower General Trading (C&H Centre) is a leading supplier of clean and hygienic disposable products in the Gulf region. It has a vision of emerging as the 'first stop' for all clean and hygienic disposable requirements of clients.
The company specialises in products including chef hats, hairnets, gloves (vinyl, latex and nitrile), facemasks, over-sleeves, shoe covers, aprons, visitor coats, micro-fibre cloth, aluminium foil and cling film including dispensers, eco-friendly garbage bags, brooms, mops and wipers.
C&H centre's expertise is attributed to its being the region's leading supplier to the F&B sector including hotels, full-service restaurants, fast food outlets, quick service restaurants, caterers, cafes and bakers.
It also caters to the retail segment (hyper and super-markets), livestock industry (meat, dairy, poultry), facility management companies, leisure industry (resorts, spas, amusement theme parks) and industries (food processing, water and pharmaceuticals).
Asked about the reasons behind the success of his business, Hasan says that Dubai is a business hub and everyone gets that one opportunity, which would either make or break his business.
"We too got that opportunity and we utilised it with trust, which made us go stronger from year to year and stand apart in our line of business in spite of the competition," he explains. "Our success story is more about our clients."
C&H Centre has also been a trendsetter. "We kept evolving, matching clients' requirements to the point where we introduced the biodegradable range of products," points out Hasan. "Our biodegradable gloves and biodegradable cling films are a proof of that. I have always believed that it is important to be eco-conscious when you are supplying in the 21st century."
The company has also introduced the non-woven range of disposables in some categories which are fast moving and have already set standards.
Referring to the importance of hygiene in the business sector, he says the company spells the word as 'high-giene.' "It is the most important concept for us."
In food services, there could be "cross-contamination between money, hands and food items if hygiene is forgotten. We educate and then supply what is best for our customers than just selling."
With just 80 plus weeks to go before Expo 2020, how has it impacted his business? "Dubai was the fourth most visited place in the world and had attracted 15.79 million people in 2017 and 15.92 million in 2018, which means the hospitality sector is doing good," he points out. With Expo 2020, the number is expected to reach the 25 million-mark, "which means the sector and the industry we are currently catering is going to stay healthy and be lucrative."
C&H Centre recently organised a chef's meet, which attracted 130 guests. It was also a product launch where the company introduced biodegradables.
"The event was a great success," says Hasan. "Chef Micheel Uwe, President of Emirates Culinary Guild was the chief guest. We had guests like Jonathan Stackhouse from the UK representing Cofresco Food Services and Daniele Mamoli from Italy representing Celtex. They are our business partners."
The company is soon going to enter Kuwait and by 2020 will also venture into Africa. "C&H is coming up with its own chain of retail outlets offering complete and innovative range of clean and hygienic products, which will be a kind of one-stop solution for clients," he adds.
