French radio, broadsheet proposed
DUBAI - Planning is currently underway for the introduction of an all-French radio station and a French newspaper in the UAE, revealed Thierry d'Anna, Director of Alliance Francaise, Dubai.
‘We are currently in the planning stages for this project and it is one of our long-term objectives to have such an arrangement.’
The idea for such a project apparently sprouted at the Annual meetings of the board of governors of the World Bank group and the IMF.
‘As we were encouraged by the response shown by people towards an hourly news programme in French on the Dubai Business channel during the IMF meetings, we decided to think about a long term project, D'Anna said.
‘There is an increasing demand for French here and we hope to introduce the newspaper and the radio station very soon.’
