Free entry to Global Village today

Entry to the Global Village will be free on the first day of its opening, today. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has ordered the Eid in Dubai celebrations for two weeks starting October 18 till November 3.

And Global Village has decided to extend its opening hours until 2am during the weekends which fall within the Eid Celebrations. Being one of the main attractions and with an expected rise in the number of tourists, the extended hours will be an added attraction. Also, during these two weeks, the Global Village will be open to all, the traditional Monday Family Day will commence after November 2.

There will be 37 pavilions at the Village this year, with more than 65 countries now represented from every continent as its cultural reach and diversity continues to grow steadily. Going ‘global’ every year, new countries participating this season include Austria, Brazil, Greece, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and South Africa plus displays showcasing a number of countries from Eastern Europe.

This season, the Global Village will also hold 12 weekly draws giving visitors the chance to win a Chevrolet Camaro. The draw will commence on November 2 and will continue until the end of its operational season in March 2013. The draws will be conducted for 12 consecutive weekends and people can participate in the draw simply by using their entry tickets bought at the gate.

The global tradition of international dining offers a real treat for visitors this season with 25 restaurants from all over the world, in addition to many others located within the pavilions offering unique flavours and traditions, from tasty sweets and snacks to more substantial fare.
