Roads were shut and stern warnings were issued as the country experienced extreme weather conditions
The incident happened on April 9.
The boy’s father said on Tuesday that his wife had bought foodstuffs from a supermarket on her way back from work.
She reached home around 2.30pm and asked their eldest son to carry the foodstuffs from the car.
She cooked lunch and their two older sons went to their evening school at 3.30pm. She and their other three children went to sleep after lunch. “I was at work in Bu Kreyya between Al Ain and Al Wegan,” he said.
When his wife woke up, she found their youngest son missing.
She searched the whole house and enquired with their neighbours. The boy was finally found lying in the car. She noticed dark circles around his eyes.
She and one of her friends rushed him to Al Ain Hospital but the doctors said that it was too late.
The police have referred the case to the public prosecution for further investigation and framing of charges, possibly including causing death due to negligence. The medical report says the boy died of suffocation, his father said.
