Four UAE nationals die in car accident

RAS AL KHAIMAH — Four UAE nationals died on the spot and two were critically injured in a car accident that took place on Saturday last. The mishap took place in the Diba area, when a 19-year-old driver tried to overtake another car only to slam into another car coming in the opposite direction. Both the cars were driven by UAE nationals.

Teams from the RAK Traffic Police department rushed to the scene and immediately took the victims to Diba Hospital for treatment. The two injured people are still being treated but their condition is reported to be stable.

An official at RAK Traffic Police department said that the accident was due to reckless driving, over-speeding and also because the driver was trying to overtake in an area where overtaking was not allowed. Around 42 people have died in traffic accidents throughout the last eight months, 17 of them being UAE nationals.
