A senior police official said on February 6 that the General Department of Criminal Investigation received a tip-off on January 26 that two Asians, A.S. and A.J., were trying to sell an Asian woman for Dh10,500. The Anti-Human Trafficking section of the police formed a special team and set a trap.

On January 28, an undercover policeman contacted A.S. and agreed to meet him to buy the woman. He agreed to make a down payment of Dh500 initially with the promise that he would pay the remaining amount when the woman was handed over.

At 7.30pm, A.S., accompanied by the woman, arrived at the agreed spot in Al Baraha area. A.S. ordered the woman to get into a waiting car with her belongings after receiving the balance amount of Dh10,000. However, the CID official arrested him once he received the amount.

A.S. led the police to a residential building in Al Baraha from where the other gang members - A.J., M.N., and Z.B. - were arrested.

During interrogation, the four confessed that they had brought the woman into the country on a visit visa and forced her into prostitution.

The four have been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution.
