One of the cars, owned by a man identified as M.H, was stationed in the second hand car market of Fujairah where it caught fire. Major Ali Al Tenaijy, director of the Fujairah Civil Defence, said the operation room received a report at around 11.19pm that a vehicle was burning.

The civil defence teams rushed to the site and managed to put out the fire. The reason for the fire is not known yet.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Al Tenaijy said the other three incidents of cars catching fire were reported in various areas of the emirate, including Deba Al Fujairah, Masafi area and Dawar Al Shate’ area.

The authorities are investigating the incidents.

A senior Fujairah Police officer said the reason for the cars catching fire might be an electric shortage or a burning cigarette bud falling on some paper or trash inside the car.
