Four arrested for stealing jewellery worth Dh1 millio

AL GHARBIA (ABU DHABI) - Four Asians have been arrested for allegedly stealing gold and diamond jewellery worth Dh1million from a national's house in Giyathi while the family was vacationing abroad.

The arrested persons, aged between 25 and 35, were identified as MA, MB, MF and MH.

Three of them are prime accused, while the fourth is the brother of two of them, who lived in a house where the stolen valuables were hidden.

A woman neighbour had alerted the police after the cook of the family that had gone abroad told her about the theft.

The thieves reportedly entered the house after smashing one of the windows.

All the stolen items and the tools used in the crime were recovered by the police.

Colonel Ajeel Ali Abdullah, Deputy Director-General of Gharbia Police, urged nationals andresidents to be cautious with regard to security and safety of their houses when they go on vacation.
