A maid, two salesmen and a guard, all Bangladeshis, were charged with human trafficking by trying to force a 20-year-old compatriot woman into prostitution after luring her from her home country with a job offer.
They allegedly took advantage of the young age of the victim to deceive her by promising her a job as a maid and then confined her against her will at their place to force her into the flesh trade.
The maid, 26, is also accused of indulging into prostitution and having an illicit sexual relation with one of the salesmen on trial.
The salesman, 35, is also facing the charge of having sex out of the wedlock with the maid. Two of the accused had also entered the country without the proper travel documents and were staying illegally.
The victim told the prosecutors that she was looking for a job back home and a recruitment agency collected 70,000 takas and was accordingly brought into the UAE to work as a maid.
“All the four defendants received me at the airport and drove me to a place in Muraqqabat,” the teenager said. It was on November 7 last year.
On the same night the maid told her to take a shower and wear a robe because someone would come and have sex with her.
When the teenager rejected it, the maid started to shout and threaten her. The young girl then jumped off the window of the second floor and broke her leg.
The police nabbed the defendants after they knew about the incident of a Bangladeshi woman’s fall in Al Hamriya.
“One of our sources informed us that the victim was running away from people who wanted to force her into prostitution,” a Sergeant testified in the investigation.
After few days from her fall, the victim could identify the defendants. She was still lying at Rashid Hospital when she was shown their pictures.
She told the cops that the maid threatened to hurt her if she did not succumb to their demand of having sex with men.
The Criminal Evidence report showed that according to the medical test the victim was still virgin.
