However, reliable sources at the Lands and Purchase Section of the Ministry of Finance told Khaleej Times that they had obtained assurance from the landlord that the sign would be removed immediately.

Sources in the financial affairs section of the Ministry of Education said that the matter was pending between the Ministry of Finance and the landlord. They said that the Ministry of Finance was seeking extension of the tenancy contract till the end of December, because the ministry's new premises in Al Ghusais were not yet ready for occupation.

One of the reasons given by the sources for not shifting to the new premises was that the Ministry of Education had not finalised the number of staff members who would move into the new premises.

Besides, the newly established section for planning and human resources development needs its own space in the building. Also, some modifications are being made to the structure. As a result, the date for handing over the new premises has been extended, which necessitated the extension of the present building's tenancy agreement till December.

Because the landlord had not been duly notified about the changes, the sources said, he put the 'To Let' sign on the premises as the agreement neared expiry.
