Addressing a seminar on 'The Importance of Parliamentary Life and Political Participation in the UAE' at the University of Sharjah, Dr Ghufli said the FNC elections held in 2006 had brought several young national leaders to the forefront.

"These young minds have brought in innovative thinking and dynamism to the proceedings of the FNC," he pointed out.

He highlighted the vital role played by the FNC in supporting the government by hosting discussions between ministers and council members for drafting legislation.

The FNC elections have been a turning point in the UAE's political sphere and have enhanced political participation including that of women, he added.

The seminar witnessed significant interaction from students, mainly focusing on the FNC members' role in helping citizens to solve daily problems and following up on their situations.

The students also focused on the recommendations by the FNC, the subjects discussed and mechanisms adopted to follow up on these recommendations and their implementation.
