Five killed, 11 injured in two RAK accidents

RAS AL KHAIMAH — Five people, including a child, were killed, and 11 others suffered injuries in two separate accidents in Ras Al Khaimah yesterday.

Colonel Nasser Salim, Assistant Director of Traffic and Licensing in Ras Al Khaimah Police, said three Emirati women and a five-year-old girl died when a vehicle they were traveling in overturned and rolled down a deep slope at the Wadi Al Alaim in the southern region of Ras Al Khaimah.

The accident occurred around 11am.

He said three other occupants of the vehicle, including two women and a young boy, were shifted to Saqr Hospital in a critical condition.

In another accident, a 46-year-old Indian driver died and eight others were injured when the bus they were travelling in rammed into a trailer in Al Ghail area here.

The incident took place around 8am when the driver of the bus that was transporting labourers of an RAK-based construction company was trying to change lanes and collided with a trailer.
