The mishap occurred at around 10pm when their car was hit by another on the RAK-Sharjah old road, near RAK Traffic Department (RTD), just a few metres away from the new Emirates highway roundabout.

Three of the victims including the pregnant woman, belong to a national family. Their chauffeur and housemaid were the other injured.

Eyewitnesses said the impact of the hit was such that the car plunged into a deep cleft nearby. On being alerted, rescue teams from RAK Police and Civil Defence Departments rushed to the site and brought the victims to the emergency wing at Saqer Hospital.

It also took the rescue teams several hours to recover the badly damaged car and restore normal traffic in this congested area of the city.
