Fires in textile shop, Jumeirah villa put out

DUBAI - Fire-fighters put out two fires early yesterday which broke out in two different areas of the emirate. The first report of a fire was received at 3.48am in a commercial premises in Rifaa area.

Units from Satwa fire station rushed to the scene of the accident where there was fire in a textile shop. Fire-fighters managed to control the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops.

It took 17 minutes to extinguish the fire. The shop including its contents were completely destroyed, with an estimated damage of Dh100,000.

Another call about a fire in a house in Jumeirah 4 area was received at the operations room at 6.38am. Fire-fighters from Jumeirah fire station rushed to the scene and found the villa, made up of four rooms and a hall, was ablaze.

Firemen managed to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other rooms. The fire was put out in six minutes. Investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Fire-fighters also put out a fire in a villa in Jumeirah 3 area, which broke out at 10.25am on Friday. The fire started in the walk-in closet attached to one of the bed rooms on the second floor. The fire spread to other parts of the bed room. It took only 11 minutes to put out the fire which was confined to the bedroom.

At 3.30am on the same day, fire-fighters from Hamriya fire station put out a fire which broke out in a two-storey house in Hor Al Anz. The fire started on the roof of the two-storey structure and it took fire- fighters only six minutes to extinguish the fire. Damage to the house is estimated at Dh6,000.
