Fire spurs Ajman officials into action

AJMAN — Following the devastating fire that gutted the lubricants factory in the Ajman Industrial Area, an emergency inspection committee will soon be set up by the Ajman Municipality to ensure fire safety in commercial, industrial as well as residential areas.

The Ajman Municipality and the Civil Defence department have decided to draw up new plans and introduce precuationary measures to prevent the recurrence of such accidents in the emirate.

Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of the Ajman Municipality, said an inspection committee will be formed following an administrative decree to be issued by Shaikh Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning.

“The committee, comprising officers from the Ajman Civil Defence and the municipality, will start working from next week. The committee’s tasks will include monitoring and inspection of all commercial and industrial as well as residential premises to ensure all abide by fire safety norms.”
