Fire in scrap yard in Sharjah
sharjah - A fire erupted in a yard where scrap and garbage are stored in Sharjah Industrial Area 4 on Wednesday afternoon, sending huge plumes of smoke to the sky which caused panic among people in the area. The smoke could be seen from very far.
A Civil Defence official said the fire broke out in a yard opposite Gulf Qusias Company. “We were notified around 1pm. Firefighters from the Civil Defence station in the industrial area reached the scene immediately and put out the fire in ten minutes. The heavy smoke was due to the burning of garbage and scrap.” The cause of the fire will be known only after the police forensic laboratory report comes, he said.
