The amount of the fine will be decided as per the Cabinet’s decision, he added.
“Three months were enough for the amnesty seekers to approach the DNRD to benefit from the scheme. A grace period will be granted only to those people who have already completed the formalities but could not leave the UAE because of reasons like unavailablity of air-tickets etc.,” he said.
The official added: “We provided all facilities to the amnesty seekers and even extended the working hours at the centres, including Saturdays. We did not want to give them any excuse for not stepping forward to complete the formalities to either regularise their status or leave the UAE.”
