Fewer working hours for private sector

ABU DHABI — Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, the UAE Minister of Labour, has issued a circular on the reduction of working hours during the holy month of Ramadan in implementation of the Article 65 of the Federal Law Number 8 of year 1980, on regulation of work relations and its amendments.

In accordance with the circular, the working hours of private sector companies and establishments will be reduced from eight hours to six hours, without affecting the salaries of employees.

The ministry greeted the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of Emirates; and people of the UAE and the Arab and Islamic nations on advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the working hours at the Customer Service Counters of the Labour Ministry will be from 9am to 5.30pm during the month of Ramadan, according to a statement from the ministry.

The ministry has sent circulars to various customer service centres across the country to this effect. — Wam
