To mark the UAE's 44th National Day Celebrations, 22 activities have been approved by the Higher Committee of National Day celebrations in Sharjah and will take place over a five-day period starting with an opening ceremony and operetta on November 29 at the Sharjah National Park.
The operetta narrates the story of the creation of the Union through to its success as among the most developed countries in the region. Other events include theatrical and musical shows as well as several workshops, and cultural and heritage exhibitions. Selected episodes of "Freej", the first Emirati animated television series, will also be broadcasted as part of the festivities.
As National Day celebrations coincide with the Commemoration Day of Martyrs, the events will include a theatrical show about martyrs performed by students from the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. Sculptured sand models will reflect the heroism of the UAE's fallen soldiers and recognise their sacrifice and dedication to their country.
Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Head of the Higher Committee extended congratulations and gratitude to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and their brothers Their Highness Rulers of the Emirates for their support and effort to achieve prosperity and stability in the country and ensure the wellbeing of Emirati citizens and residents in the country.
Al Midfa said that the National Day events taking place in Sharjah this year will present an overall image of the UAE; past, present and future.
