Federal DNA Data Base to be Set up in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI - The Abu Dhabi Police is planning to set up a federal DNA data base, Dr Ahmed Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Head of the Bio-criminal and DNA of Abu Dhai Police’s Criminal Evidence Administration, told Khaleej Times.

He said a team of DNA experts was working on the project under the directives of Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyah, Minister of Interior.

“When completed, the DNA bank will contribute to unfolding mysteries of tens of crimes committed 10 years ago when no criminals were identified. It will help in solving cases of parenthood, unknown bodies and robbery,’’ he added.

Speaking on Sunday before the 18th Interpol conference, Al Marzouqi said there was a plan to build a DNA data base at regional and international levels.
