For Mays Kadhim, a 22-year old, having a creative closet and staying comfortable in what you wear is the perfect recipe for staying in fashion.

“but a mix of old-school with what’s trendy. I like to add my own touch and the more variety I have, the more creative I can get,” says Mays.

“Everyone loves to get compliments but for me, my comfort is top priority. If you’re not comfortable in your own skin then others will be able to see that and if you’re looking for compliments you won’t be getting any that way. I don’t buy things just because I like the way it looks,” she adds.

The high-streets of shopping in Dubai’s malls and shopping districts are always looking to get youngsters to walk through their doors. New collections are a big hit with the fashionistas.

Sarah Hameed, an 18-year old fashion blogger, knows it all with her blog on fashion and latest trends. “As a fashion blogger, I like to keep up-to-date with the latest trends but as fashion goes in cycles I don’t spend a lot of money on what is acclaimed as ‘the IT’ bag for that season. Being a teenager without a disposable income is the biggest challenge when it comes to spending on latest fashion,” says Sarah.

Her mantra for looking good is to have the right basics and mix it with other clothing pieces to look creative. “I love to mix and match high street with designer. I try to go for pieces I don’t already have in my wardrobe and to keep things fun and fresh. I believe in investing in a couple of great basic staples. My wardrobe is eclectic and I pick up pieces from all over the world,” says Sarah.

For Taruna Lachhwani, a 24-year old, good fashion is all about making the right choice of clothes.

“It’s only when I got to university that I started wearing what I wanted. I usually go shopping alone because it becomes easier to make a choice,” says Taruna.

She believes in being confident with her looks and takes time to shop for the right pick.
