According to information available, a man called the police to inform that he had seen an aircraft that was flying at low level, and which had probably crashed in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport.

Captain Ali Al Naqbi, officer on duty at the Operation Rooms, said the information was treated with due diligence and the emergency and rescue teams pressed into service.

Ambulances and fire brigade vehicles were dispatched in all directions to the areas surrounding the airport, including Al Khawaneej, Al Aweer, Mizhar, Mirdif and Al Warqa.

A police helicopter, too, scoured the areas, but found nothing.

The search operations were called off after the airport authorities reported that no plane had gone missing or crashed.
