Expatriates can distribute gas in Ajman

AJMAN - Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, yesterday issued a decree that effective today expatriates would be allowed to distribute gas inside and outside the emirate. Till now, only UAE nationals from Ajman and the other emirates were permitted to do so.

Interested persons can apply immediately for licenses at the Licensing Section of Ajman Municipality which will grant the licences to on specific conditions including that the applicant should have a UAE national sponsor accepted by the Municipality.

Speaking to Khaleej times, Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of Ajman Municipality, said that the decision aimed at encouraging and promoting investment as well as providing best services for consumer in the emirate.

He said that regular inspection campaigns would ensure that the gas distribution companies complied with the safety and security regulations set by the civic body and the Civil Defence.

Al Shamsi said that the municipality will also intensify it efforts in supervising such companies to make sure that they followed the safety procedures when loading, unloading and transporting gas cylinders from one place to another.

The Municipality has warned compamines found violating the safety regulations and procedures that they would be fined. Vehicles that carry loaded cylinders would not be allowed to stop in residential areas or crowded places. They would be permited to park their vehicles only at venues selected and allocated by the Civil Defence. "The municipality is coordinating with the municipality on issuing and renewing lisences for this kind of business," he said.
