The Learn OnLine Challenge is aimed at encouraging productive usage of the Internet as a tool to acquire knowledge and expertise.

Addressing a Press conference held at the Etisalat premises in Dubai, Ahmed Julfar, General Manager of eCompany, said that the Learn Online Challenge 2004 encourages participants to prepare themselves with the information and resources available on the Internet to answer specific questionnaires online.

The questionnaires are designed to test the understanding of participants about various topics. Responses from each category will be adjudged by a jury comprising leading personalities on the topic of the questionnaire and they will award the winners.

He added that eCompany has partnered with HP, the region’s leading IT company, along with other co-sponsors to organise this competition in the UAE.

Mr Julfar pointed out that the co-sponsors of the competition include leading companies like Intel, Motorola, Sites Power, Symantec, Universitas 21 Global, University of Wollongong and VISA International.

He said that the eight topics of the competition include Databases, Desktop Computing, eCommerce, Personal Finance, Networking, Organisational Productivity, Security, and Web Development. The LearnOnline Challenge 2004 will last for a period of more than a month. Participant registration will be open from today and they can respond to the questionnaires till November 2, 2004, after which the jury will examine the responses and announce the winners on November 12. An award presentation gala dinner will be held on November 21 where the jury will present the prizes.
