Etihad Airways increases the value of freebies at Abu Dhabi summer festival

ABU DHABI — In recognition of the resounding success of the inaugural 'Summer in Abu Dhabi' festival, which is currently on at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre here, the Etihad Airways has increased the value of its giveaways from Dh70,000 to Dh150,000, it said in a Press release yesterday.

Fourteen people won Dh5,000 worth of flight tickets to any of Etihad's 45 international destinations during the first week of the show.

One of the lucky winners, Saif Nasser Al Hatalee from Abu Dhabi, said, "When I found out that I had won Dh5,000 worth of flight ticket, I couldn't believe my luck. I don't know where to fly yet, but this will help my family to have a holiday."

To enter the competition, visitors only need to put their security wrist bands with contact names and numbers into the Etihad competition drop boxes. Names are then drawn at random from these drop boxes and the each lucky winner receives Dh5,000 worth of flight ticket, the release said.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways' executive vice-president for marketing and product, said, "Summer in Abu Dhabi has exceeded everybody's expectations. Thousands of people are flocking to the show every day and Etihad is more than happy to extend its involvement in the festival."

Faisal Al Shaikh, head of events section for Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, said, "We are honoured that Etihad Airways has recognised the success of Summer in Abu Dhabi in this way and I thank them for their participation in what has already become one of the UAE's favourite festivals."

The winners will be contacted by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company and inform them how they can redeem their prizes.

Summer in Abu Dhabi will last till August 18 and tickets are priced at Dh30 for an adult and Dh20 for a child under 16, while children under the age of four years will get it free.

Tickets can be purchased at the gates and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult above 18 years.
