Earlier Gulf Air was the recipient of these traffic rights.

The two parties agreed to introduce two additional flights per week on the sector. The MoU was signed between Mohammed Ghanim Al Ghaith, Director-General, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), UAE; and Santoso Eddy Wibowo, Director of Air Transport, Department of Communications, Indonesia.

"Etihad Airways will be granted a total of eight flights per week, and the Indonesian airlines entitlement will be increased by two weekly flights between Indonesia and UAE," said Mohammed Al Ghaith.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Abu Dhabi, Faisal Bafadal.

In addition to the above basic traffic rights, Etihad Airways is permitted to utilise up to four weekly frequencies from the unutilised frequencies of the Indonesian allocation, subject to a commercial cooperation agreement with a designated airline of Indonesia.

By signing that MoU, Etihad Airways will start to operate its flight to Indonesia at the beginning of March 2006.
