The UAE-Pakistan relations have since evolved into wide-ranging cooperation. The notable visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Pakistan is proof that further development and diversification of the scope of cooperation is transforming the special relationship into strategical partnership.

Furthermore, numerous exchanges and visits by the leaders of the two brotherly countries over the decades is an indication of their keenness in strengthening and consolidating ties, deepening further promote economic and trade relations between the two countries.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the UAE Government for all the generous support they have extended to Pakistan. This is a manifestation of the close fraternal between Pakistan and the UAE which have always stood the test of time.

PBPCs role in Abu Dhabi
Pakistan Business Professional Council Abu Dhabi (PBPC Abu Dhabi), established in the region since 2005, has played an important role in cementing relations between various trade bodies and business organisations, as well as the corporate and public-private sectors, between the two countries.

PBPC Abu Dhabi arranged numerous signings of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) between the UAE and Pakistan entities. "We have facilitated signing of agreements between the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADSM), between Lahore Stock Exchange and Dubai Financial Market, and between Abu Dhabi Securities Market and Central Depository Company of Pakistan," said Dr S. Qaiser Anis, President, PBPC Abu Dhabi.

PBPC Abu Dhabi is strengthening its presence and closely interacting with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), Abu Dhabi Department Economic Development (ADDED), Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange (ADX) and Ministry of Economy (MoE), to develop and build solid economic and cultural business relationships that will benefit our members, Pakistani and non-Pakistani businessmen and professionals on both regional and international.

PBPC Abu Dhabi continues to be a platform of business networking between the two regions, unifying the interest of businesses of all sizes and sectors. A seminar on corporate social responsibility is in the pipeline this year. The above-mentioned sectors are some of the best avenues for investment in the emerging Pakistan.

In the recent meeting with the ADX Chief Executive, the council is working for IPO of UAE to be promoted in Pakistan and the same IPO of Pakistan to be promoted in the UAE - some share script in Pakistan is to be listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange board, and ADX share script in PSX board.

The Council continues to work together with 30-plus business councils in Abu Dhabi through joint events. These are the avenues wherein members can network and interact with other members of the business council, meet and create new contact for their benefit. The CPEC is in full swing, transforming Pakistan's economy; it has already helped Pakistan ascend the global competitiveness scale.

The Council is in vigorous support to The Diabetic Centre, Indus Hospital, Akhuwat Foundation, Aman Foundation and IMHT School of Nursing Pakistan.

According to Dr Anis, the latest challenges faced this time is the Covid-19 pandemic, as it continues to spread, leaving restrained businesses to identify and cope with travel bans. "Containment major and regulatories are affecting supply and operation. This also affects the operation and supply chain. To cope with the current situation, I think we should have advanced thinking for the coming quarter. Hopefully, everything will be fine after six to eight weeks. There are also tools available to assist the business," he said.
