Engineer Nabbed for Serial Rapes in Sharjah


A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the 30-year-old man allegedly attacked and raped seven women of Asian origin in their apartments in various parts of the emirate during the last two weeks.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Buhaira police and is being interrogated, said another police source.

An official at Kuwaiti Hospital, where a number of victims are being reportedly treated, said the hospital has received several women who were assaulted and raped in the last three weeks. DNA samples have been taken for tests to confirm whether they were raped by the suspect. The suspect has apparently no signs of mental illness.

The suspect targeted only Indian and Pakistani women in their apartments after their husbands had left for office.
