KT reader asks if the company can be sued for refusing to provide more fuel allowance
More than 60 applicants (PROs, workers and employers) came to solve their problems at the session.
An Egyptian woman, F.M., who works as a secretary in a company based in the capital, wanted to resign and return to her country. However, the employer did not agree to let her go.
"The worker should abide by the law informing the employer before the notice month that he/she will resign. The sponsors have no right to detain the workers like this," said Al Zahmi.
He referred the complaint to the Dispute Department at the MoL to investigate the matter and cancel the visa and call the employer to pay her financial dues as per the labour law.
A PRO applied to lift the six-month suspension of his company's activities. Al Zahmi rejected the application because the company had hired illegal persons.
The application by a leading contracting company to bring 125 workers was also rejected as the company had more workers than it needed.
