Habib Yousuf Abdallah Al Sayegh, the chairman of the Emirates Writers Union and Secretary General of the Arab Writers Union, passed away on Tuesday.

Al Sayegh, also a poet, was born in 1955 in Abu Dhabi, and started working as a journalist with bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1977. He obtained a master's degree in English, Arabic and Translation in 1998 from London.

He used to write daily opinion pieces in Arabic newspapers in the country.
