Eid in Dubai dishes out rich entertainment fare

DUBAI - Traditional Arabian and Indian concerts will dominate the musical scenario of the four-day “Eid in Dubai” celebrations starting today at various cultural stages across Dubai.

At Burj Steps – Emaar Boulevard beside Burj Khalifa, Eid in Dubai Arabic Concert will present renowned Arab singer Mohammed Abdo on Thursday while popular singers Shadmehr Aghili and Siavash Ghomeshi will perform on Friday at the Aviation Club Tennis Stadium-Dubai. “Dhoom Dubai” with Indian singers Pritam, Neeraj Shridhar and Mohit Chauhan will be held at Madinat Jumeirah Arena on Friday at 9.30pm.

Naser Hakim, PR and Marketing head of the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), told Khaleej Times that the 20 participating malls have come up with their own entertainment shows, but DEPE-initiated events including raffle draws will be held only at Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre and Dubai Festival City.

The UAE Heritage Zone and traditional bands from the UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and India will also perform from today to November 19 at the Mirdif City Centre.

Clown and comedy theatre show, carnival, circus unicyclist show, Mr. Popor Clown and the Special Roaming Group will be the attractions at Deira City Centre for four days.

Mall of the Emirates will host three musical shows in addition to performances of solo musicians and roaming musical groups. Musicians playing on flute, saxophone, violin, oud, and qanoon will also entertain visitors at the mall.

It also hosts the ‘Brainiac Live Show! The Big Bang’, a popular televised science show that features numerous science experiments, from November 19 to November 23.

At Dubai Festival City, the customary Eid fireworks will light up Dubai sky to kick off the celebrations. The Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, comprising 20 young musicians, will perform a 40-minute show during the four days of Eid. Visitors will also be treated to the Dino Live exhibition that is currently on at the mall.

Visitors arriving at terminals 1 and 3 of Dubai International until November 18 will be welcomed with Arabic coffee and sweets. The same warm welcome will meet the visitors at Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates, Mirdif City Centre, Dubai Festival City and Jumeirah Beach Residences for the four days of Eid.

He said the Eid in Dubai programme, organised for the third consecutive year, aims at promoting Dubai as a festival destination during Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha celebrations through various entertainment events. It also aims at bringing together the diverse cultures and nationalities residing or visiting Dubai to celebrate this joyous occasion in festivities designed to cater to all ages.
