Eid celebrations continued in the Capital on Saturday with feast, get together and cultural programmes.
Indian Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) held musical shows on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. And adding flavour to the festivities, ISC served biryani to about 1,000 people.
Indian Embassy First Secretary (Consular Affairs) Pavan K. Rai, who was the chief guest at ISC, said the centre is a 'bouquet of different flowers of different sizes and scent. People from all states sitting together here is a great sight'.
"Eid is a pious occasion. This festival sends out message of ultimate sacrifice and also to share whatever you have with others. Let's keep our heart open for others," Rai said.
Acting president Jayachandran Nair gave a brief description about the festival and noted the traditional Thalassery dum biryani was prepared by a special chef, who was flown in from Kerala. And while hundreds savoured the famed biryani from the Malabar Coast of Kannur district, singers from ISC music club rolled out peppy numbers from the past.
Friday night's 'Mehfil' music, too, got good response. Music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs finalist Yumna Ajin and other singers lit up the show.
Meanwhile, malls across the Capital too continued celebrations.
The Mall at World Trade Centre's 'Eid Carnival' organised variety of shows from kids' circus to entertainment shows.
On Friday night, Arabic singer Hamada Helal amazed visitors with numbers including Sponge Bob. Then there was a flash mob by Arabic pop singer 'Karim Mohsen'.
Fun, frolic and festive atmosphere are set to continue on Sunday too.
