Egyptian Tycoon 
to Face Trial
in Dubai Court

DUBAI - Egyptian multibillionaire Nabeel Al Boushi will face trial in the Dubai Court of Misdemeanour for allegedly issuing a dud cheque of $1,380,000 to a Dubai-based Egyptian expatriate.

The court has not fixed the date of hearing in this connection.

Al Boushi is still in police custody and is being investigated for issuing dud cheques worth $6 million (Dh15.9 million), according to Yousuf Ali, the advocate of the Egyptian expatriate who lodged the complaint against the Egyptian businessman.

In another development, an Emirati who sponsored Al Boushi, demanding Dh1,000,000 from him, while an Emirati woman of Egyptian origin staked her claim to Dh192,000. Dubai Attorney General Issam Al Humaidan said the alleged offence was considered a misdemeanour and Al Boushi had paid up the money he owed to some of claimants who had lodged complaints.
