The 52 year-old Egyptian, who owns a petrochemical company in Cairo with a branch in Dubai, invested in MashreqMillionaire savings certificates following a tip from an Egyptian friend.

“Certainly there is nothing like it at home and as I frequently travel to Dubai on business I thought, why not? It is not like buying lottery tickets as your savings are still safe,” said Maged, adding that the cash windfall will enable to assist some worthwhile charities back in Cairo and he also plans to invest some of the winnings into additional MashreqMillionaire savings certificates.

The other prizes have also proven extremely useful, especially the three-day return trip to Turkey.

He will give the Dh25,000 worth of gold to his wife and install the a wide-screen plasma TV and home theatre system in his home in Cairo. The shopping voucher for Dh10,000 at Jumbo Electronics will be used by him for buying appliances for his home, while the laptop computer will go to the eldest of his two sons. He will use the Nokia Communicator 9300 himself.
