Under the decision taken by the Higher Committee of Consumer Protection at its recent meeting here, the price of eggs of all sizes will increase by Dh1 per pack. While the price of a pack of six eggs will go up from Dh3 to Dh4, that of a pack of 12 eggs will increase from Dh7 to Dh8. The price of a pack of 24 eggs will increase from Dh17 to Dh18 and that of 30 eggs will go up from Dh24 to Dh25. Dr Al Nuaimi warned sale outlets and traders against increasing more than Dh1 per pack. Fines will be levied on violators, he said.

“The committee has rejected a request put forward by traders and suppliers to increase the prices of rice in the country by 15 per cent on the grounds that their prices have gone up in the global markets,” he added.
