Dr Al Sharhan rejected the proposal of the Assistant of Undersecretary for Curricular Affairs that suggested that Geography and History for the Arts section in the secondary stage be dropped.

Meanwhile, Dr Al Sharhan instructed that there should be two periods of physics, chemistry and biology every week, for Grade 12 of the Arts section. The teaching of Arabic language has been reduced to eight periods instead of 10 for Grade 1-6 and Grades 7, 8 and 9 will have six Arabic periods weekly.
