Prominent doctors from across the world were participating in the forum which was organised as part of the ongoing Arab Health Congress.

Mohammed Khan, a prominent rheumatologist based in the US, who is himself suffering from arthritis, said, "It's important that the disease is diagnosed in the first stage itself. People should be educated about the symptoms of the disease. In my case, the diagnosis was late. As a result, I cannot move my neck today."

He said some of early symptoms of arthritis were chronic back pain, and stiffness of joints in the mornings.

If detected late, it can cripple an individual for life, he added.
